It is not a secret anymore that all found nutrients in milk have good benefits. Protein and fat of milk have material which make easier to be digested. Vitamin and mineral content of milk is also relatively complete .
Milk can be processed in different forms without reducing its benefits. There can be drunk directly or in the form of treated , such as milk powder or condensed milk sweet . Human also like consume dairy food products containing milk , such as cheese , ice cream , and yogurt .
There are groups who say that consuming of milk per day is not good for health , especially vascular disease such as narrowing of blood vessels . They say that milk increases blood cholesterol , a risk factor for heart disease. Secondly , there is a positive relationship between the average milk production per capita with deaths from heart disease in a number of countries .
Milk and Breast Cancer
For a group of researchers, the role of milk at a reduced risk of various degenerative diseases, such as heart disease , hypertension , and cancer was successfully demonstrated in the recent study in Norway .
Prof . Hjartaker with his colleagues from the Institute of Community Medicine, University of Tromso , Norway as published in the International Journal of Cancer , show that consuming three or more glasses of milk per day decreases the risk of breast cancer in pre-menopausal women .
Even further through the Norwegian Cohort Women and Cancer Study, they examined 48 844 women for six years two months. Their consumption of milk is measured by submitting the history of food consumption among the respondents. During the period , the Hjartaker’s team found 317 cases of breast cancer patients .
The fact is the consumption of milk since childhood negatively associated with the occurrence of breast cancer when they are at age 34-39 years ( pre-menopausal ) . That means that the consumption of milk since childhood can reduce the risk of breast cancer .
Milk consumption during adult period is also lowering the risk of breast cancer after corrected by hormonal factors , body mass index , physical activity , and alcohol consumption . Women who do not consume milk run the risk of breast cancer 2 times greater than women who consume milk 3 or more glasses of milk per day .
Not only that, Elwood with his colleagues of the University of Ulster , Ireland, in the publication in the Journal of Epidemiology Community Health 2005 show that the consumption of milk can reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease .
